From March 2013 to April 2013, EELC will be participating as a partner in a project, which aims to increase the advocacy capacity environmental NGOs in forest policy. The project is lead by Estonian Fund for Nature (ELF), in addition to EELC the Estonian Ornithological Society participates in the project.
The project aims to improve the participation of environmental organizations in formulating forest policy and enhance the dialog between environmental organizations and the government institutions, as well as private forest owners and forest companies. Public awareness of environmental problems related to forests and forest policy should also be raised.
EELC’s activities in the project are:
- legal consultation of environmental organizations in lobby work
- compiling a legal analysis on changes to provisions on forest management in the Forest Act in last 15 years
- participation in drawing up guidelines on best practices in forest management
The project is funded by Open Estonia Foundation (VÜF).
